From Marrakech to desert

Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate via the Atlas Mountains

1. Morning: Depart from Marrakech early and head towards Ouarzazate. The journey takes you through the High Atlas Mountains, offering stunning views.

2. Lunch: Stop for lunch in one of the mountain villages along the way.

3. Afternoon: Visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its mud-brick kasbahs and as a filming location for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

4. Late Afternoon: Visit the Atlas Film Studios, one of the largest film studios in the world. You’ll get to explore the impressive sets used in films such as Lawrence of Arabia and The Mummy. It’s a unique chance to see how the desert landscapes have been used in Hollywood films.

5. Evening: Arrive in Ouarzazate, have dinner at a local restaurant, and enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal.

6. Overnight: Stay in a riad or guesthouse in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)

1. Morning: After breakfast, continue your journey to Merzouga. The drive takes you through the beautiful Draa Valley with its palm groves and kasbahs.

2. Lunch: Stop for lunch in Rissani, a town known for its markets and proximity to the dunes.

3. Afternoon: Arrive in Merzouga by mid-afternoon and head to the Erg Chebbi dunes for a camel trek.

4. Evening: Enjoy a magical desert sunset from the dunes, followed by a Berber dinner at a desert camp.

5. Overnight: Spend the night in a desert camp, under the stars, for an unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Merzouga to Dades Valley

1. Morning: Wake up early for a sunrise camel ride over the dunes, then return to Merzouga for breakfast.

2. Late Morning: Begin your drive towards the Dades Valley, passing through Tinghir and its famous Todra Gorges, known for towering cliffs and dramatic landscapes.

3. Lunch: Stop for lunch in Tinghir or Rissani.

4. Afternoon: Continue your journey through the Dades Valley, famous for its breathtaking landscapes. Visit the Dades Gorges for some short hikes or scenic viewpoints.

5. Evening: Stay overnight in a guesthouse or riad in the Dades Valley and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

Day 4: Dades Valley to Marrakech

1. Morning: After breakfast, start your return journey to Marrakech, passing through the Skoura Oasis and the Ouarzazate area.

2. Lunch: Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate or on the way.

3. Afternoon: Continue your drive through the High Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech by late afternoon.

4. Evening: Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy a relaxing dinner or visit some of Marrakech’s quieter areas before ending your trip.
